![]() It usually comes out most strongly when I'm dealing with some form I'm not familiar with, such as this lizard - I looked at the real thing to get the face right, shading and all, but I have nothing to refer to for the body, and must generate that conceptually. This picture should make it self-explanatory as to why I have difficulties with typical "line-based" styles - this is my natural sketch style. sketch of what I imagine the saurian tribalist to look like.Īnd yes, I do mean "scribbled". Sat down and scribbled out a quick 5-min. But, for a video game, and with graphics like these, I think it is worth the cost. The disadvantage of good art is that it takes away our own imagination, which inevitably varies from individual to individual, and replaces it with a single person's vision, (hence why tolkien did not want his books turned into a play). Much skinnier than the D&D standard lizardmen, more agile, and capable of going almost anywhere. The advantage in such disputes is always to the artist who strikes first, and while I don't have the skill to do saurians as well as Jormungandr, I do think his saurians are fairly close to my idea of them. Well, this is very different from how I conceive of Saurians. A stab delivered by them takes its force from their powerful rear legs. The arms aren't nearly as pitiful as those of a dinosaur, but in my imagination, they're weak enough that a saurian cannot climb - they cannot haul themselves up by the strength of their arms. Jetryl wrote:As far as my idea is concerned, I view the saurians as being built with strong rear legs, iguana-like heads, and weak forearms. Drakes, then, would get 50% defense in mountains - a rare treat for them. This inability to climb is not usually an issue, given that they can jump fairly well, but I'd actually like to change them in game so that they do poorly on terrain like hills, and can't even enter mountains (and likewise do very well in swamps and sand, where their powerful legs and wide feet are to their advantage). You managed to hit the nail on the head with the mermen, insofar as my idea of their form goes, but the saurians didn't quite do it.Īs far as my idea is concerned, I view the saurians as being built with strong rear legs, iguana-like heads, and weak forearms. There is a very meagre set of racial descriptions on the wiki, but it wouldn't really help. ![]() ![]() Nothing that would describe what you as an artist would need.
